Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform generalist clinical laboratory testing across hematology, chemistry, serology and microbiology
• Process and evaluate specimens accurately, ensuring timely and reliable results for patient care
• Perform phlebotomy on rare occasions with proper technique and compassion
• Operate and maintain lab instruments and run quality control procedures to meet regulatory standards
• Document results and chart in EPIC/Beaker and other LIS systems accurately and promptly
• Troubleshoot technical issues and escalate to supervisors when necessary to minimize downtime
• Collaborate with lab team members and clinical staff to support patient care and workflow efficiency
• Participate in department-specific orientation and follow hospital policies for safety and compliance

Qualifications

• Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via AMT or Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) - required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years experience as a generalist Medical Laboratory Technician
• Comfortable working night shift schedule (6 nights on, Thurs–Tues)
• Able to perform occasional phlebotomy when needed
• Must be in-state and available for the week-long orientation; driver's license must be submitted
• Familiarity with EPIC/Beaker and common LIS (Polytech, Avalon, Orchard, Apollo, Prolis, BioTracer, etc.) preferred

Education

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent (or appropriate MLT/MLS certification)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of laboratory testing methods and quality control
• Experience with EPIC Beaker and other LIS platforms for charting and result entry
• Competent specimen handling, labeling and processing skills
• Ability to operate common lab analyzers and perform routine maintenance
• Good troubleshooting, documentation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently during night shift with sound judgment
