Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality emergency nursing care in a freestanding ED environment
- Assess and triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care
- Establish and manage IVs, perform EKGs, and administer medications safely
- Collaborate with the care team to stabilize patients and facilitate transfers when needed
- Document care thoroughly in Meditech and ensure medication scanning for every dose
- Support a 1:4 patient ratio while maintaining patient safety and comfort
Qualifications
- Current RN license (able to work in Virginia) — required
- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience (ER experience required/preferred)
- Certifications: ACLS, PALS, BLS, and TNCC — required
- Strong independent IV skills, EKG interpretation, and clinical assessment skills
- Comfortable with medication mixing (including critical agents like TPA, KCentra) is a plus
- Team player who is outgoing, independent, and adaptable to a freestanding ED
Education
- Active RN license required; ADN/BSN in Nursing preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with Meditech EMR documentation
- Experience with GE monitors, Baxter pumps, small ventilators and Zoll defibs
- Solid triage and emergency assessment skills
- Medication scanning and safe medication administration practices
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, small-team ED setting (1:4 ratios)
