Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered telemetry nursing care for a 31-bed unit
• Monitor and accurately interpret cardiac rhythms using Phillips telemetry
• Manage patients with high acuity diagnoses (post-pacer, dialysis, new onset AFib/RVR, sepsis, strokes, TBI) with confidence
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including hospitalists/intensivists, RT, and pharmacy to optimize patient outcomes
• Perform medication administration, IV care coordination (IV team not available), and essential nursing procedures within scope
• Safely float to related units (MSW, MHB, ICU holds, ER holds) as needed while maintaining patient safety
• Chart thoroughly in Cerner and communicate clear handoffs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (eligible to practice in California)
• Minimum 2 years of recent acute care/telemetry nursing experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Comfortable reading and interpreting all cardiac rhythms
• Ability to meet call/standby requirements (must report within 30 minutes if placed on call)
• Willingness to work into the permanent staff holiday rotation (1 major and 1 minor holiday)

Education

• Active RN license in California
• BSN preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation (Phillips telemetry experience a plus)
• EMR experience with Cerner for charting and documentation
• Familiarity with CPAP/BiPAP management per RT guidance
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking for stepdown/high-acuity patients
• Effective communication and teamwork while floating across related units
• Ability to manage a typical 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
