Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess acute care patients to identify occupational therapy needs
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focused on functional recovery
• Deliver skilled interventions to improve ADLs, mobility, and independence
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, PT, SLP and the interdisciplinary team for coordinated care
• Document patient progress and care plans accurately in Cerner
• Educate patients and families on strategies for safe discharge and ongoing recovery
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and reduce readmissions
• Maintain required certifications and follow hospital policies to ensure patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapy license (state-required) — must be eligible to submit
• Minimum 2 years of acute care Occupational Therapy experience
• Current BLS certification required
• Comfortable charting in Cerner or similar electronic health record systems
• Excellent clinical reasoning, communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Education

• Degree in Occupational Therapy (Master's, entry-level OTD, or equivalent) and state licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong acute care assessment and intervention skills
• Experience with ADL retraining, mobility and functional transfer training
• Proficient documentation practices and outcomes tracking in Cerner
• Ability to prioritize caseload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Good patient and family education skills and discharge planning knowledge
