Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-quality Med-Surg nursing care across multiple units as a float pool RN
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care to drive excellent outcomes
- Float to MercyOne West Des Moines when scheduled and adapt quickly to new unit environments
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care and communicate patient needs clearly
- Maintain and demonstrate competency via Trinity specialty testing and the Trinity skills checklist
- Follow infection control, medication safety, and documentation standards consistently
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS
- Recent Med-Surg and float pool experience is preferred
- Ability to complete Trinity specialty competency testing and skills checklist
- Must meet personnel health requirements including drug screen, immunizations, fit test, and required health screenings
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong Med-Surg assessment and clinical judgment
- Adaptability to work across different units and patient populations
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Proficient documentation and basic electronic charting
- Ability to follow protocols for medication administration and patient safety
