Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients with communication and swallowing disorders and develop individualized treatment plans
- Deliver high-quality speech and language therapy interventions using evidence-based approaches
- Document patient progress thoroughly and maintain accurate clinical records
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — nurses, physicians, PT/OT, and caregivers — to optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on strategies and carryover activities to support progress outside of sessions
- Participate in care planning and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active Texas license as a Speech-Language Pathologist (required)
- Minimum 1 year experience in Speech-Language Pathology (clinical or acute care experience preferred)
- ASHA CCC-SLP preferred but not required
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification as required by facility
- Strong documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Assessment and treatment of adult and/or pediatric communication and swallowing disorders
- Knowledge of evidence-based SLP interventions and best practices
- Strong clinical reasoning, problem solving, and patient-centered care approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage caseloads efficiently while maintaining high-quality documentation
