Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled physical therapy interventions under the plan of care to help patients regain mobility and independence
- Assist the physical therapist with therapeutic exercise, modalities, and gait training
- Monitor and document patient progress, response to treatment, and any changes in condition
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and injury prevention strategies
- Maintain a safe, clean treatment environment and adhere to facility policies and infection control standards
Qualifications
- Current and active PTA license in New Jersey (or eligible for licensure)
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred if applicable
- Clinical experience as a PTA preferred; new graduates welcome to apply
- Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in therapeutic exercise techniques and gait training
- Familiarity with common modalities and assistive devices
- Ability to perform safe transfers and fall prevention practices
- Solid documentation skills and use of electronic medical records
- Good clinical reasoning and ability to follow care plans
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and patient education skills
