Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy assistive services to patients under the supervision of an OTR, focusing on functional mobility, ADLs, and adaptive strategies
- Implement treatment plans and document patient progress accurately and timely
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care and optimize patient outcomes
- Educate patients and families on therapeutic techniques, home exercise programs, and adaptive equipment
- Contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment by advocating for safety and independence
Qualifications
- Current and active New Jersey COTA licensure (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or willing to obtain)
- Comfortable with documentation in electronic health record systems
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Previous experience in a rehab or skilled nursing setting is preferred but not required
Education
- Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for ADLs, transfers, and adaptive equipment
- Skilled in patient assessment, treatment implementation, and progress reporting
- Ability to follow treatment plans developed by supervising OTRs
- Good clinical judgment, time management, and organizational skills
- Comfort with team-based care and family/caregiver education
