Roles & Responsibilities
- Assess patients' communication and swallowing abilities using evidence-based evaluation methods
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that target functional outcomes
- Provide skilled therapeutic interventions for speech, language, cognition, and dysphagia
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists, physicians, and families to support coordinated care plans
- Document clinical progress accurately and timely in the facility’s charting system
- Educate patients and families on strategies and carryover activities to maximize recovery
- Participate in discharge planning and ensure smooth care transitions
Qualifications
- Active SLP license in Maine or eligibility to obtain Maine licensure
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology (required)
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred but not required
- Experience with adult rehabilitation, dysphagia management, and skilled nursing settings preferred
- Current BLS/CPR (or willing to obtain) and ability to pass required background and health screenings
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing assessments
- Skilled at creating functional, goal-oriented treatment plans
- Strong documentation and clinical reasoning skills
- Great communicator who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Comfortable with facility-based electronic health records and compliant charting practices
