Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living including ambulation, feeding, bathing, grooming, and toileting
• Perform safe patient transfers and positioning to prevent injury and pressure injuries
• Obtain and record vital signs (including orthostatic), pulse oximetry, glucose point-of-care testing, and other routine measurements
• Respond to changes in patient condition and communicate timely, accurate reports to the care team
• Follow infection control protocols including donning/removing PPE and isolation precautions
• Maintain clean, safe patient environments by changing linens and performing basic bedside care
• Document care accurately in the electronic charting system (Epic) and support interdisciplinary care plans

Qualifications

• Current Alaska CNA license OR Alaska CNA application submitted prior to job submission (pending acceptable if application submitted; must complete AK application within 72 hours of signing)
• If AK license is pending: valid CNA license from another state and documentation of completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate or transcript)
• BLS certification (BLSS) required
• Minimum 0.5 years of CNA experience preferred (job text also references 1 year in places); LTAC/LTC or skilled nursing experience preferred
• Must be at least 50 miles from facility (locals not accepted)
• Ability to work every other weekend and float within scope to meet facility needs

Education

• Completion of a formal CNA training program (certificate or transcript required if AK CNA license is not yet active)

Knowledge & Skills

• Experience with long term acute care (LTAC), long term care (LTC), or skilled nursing settings
• Proficiency with basic nursing procedures: glucose testing, oxygen/tank familiarity, pulse oximetry
• Strong infection control practices and PPE use
• Skilled in safe patient handling and transfers
• Ability to recognize and report abnormal vs normal vital sign parameters for adults and pediatrics
• Comfortable charting in Epic or similar electronic health records
• Professional communication and teamwork with interdisciplinary staff
