Roles & Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients, take and record vital signs, and document medication/allergy histories accurately
- Prepare patients for exams and assist providers by setting up exam and procedure rooms
- Perform venipuncture and collect specimens, label samples, and prepare lab work for submission
- Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications as directed by the provider
- Clean and reprocess clinical equipment and supplies following department protocols
- Explain clinic procedures and policies to patients within your scope and support patient flow
- Assist with tracking department data and follow-up tasks to help the team meet patient care goals
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, or MMCI)
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC (required)
- Minimum 2 years experience working as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office
- Proficiency with venipuncture/blood draws and experience with CS-Link/Epic
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations)
- Phlebotomy certification and orthopedics experience are a plus
- Local candidates within a 50-minute commute are preferred
Education
- HSD/GED
- Medical Assistant Certificate or Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national MA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Epic/CS-Link charting and accurate documentation
- Taking and interpreting vital signs, height/weight, pulse oximetry
- Specimen collection, labeling, and coordination with labs like Quest Diagnostics
- Basic wound care, suture removal, dressing changes, and casting assistance
- Telephone triage, insurance verification, and authorization/referral processing
- Strong patient communication, professionalism, and teamwork
