Roles & Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients, take and document vital signs, and review current medications and histories.
- Prepare exam rooms and set up procedural equipment to ensure smooth, safe patient visits.
- Perform venipuncture and prepare specimens for lab submission accurately and on time.
- Administer immunizations and injections as directed by the provider following protocols.
- Maintain infection control: clean and reprocess equipment and supplies per department guidelines.
- Document patient encounters and test results in the medical record system (Epic/CS-Link).
- Explain clinic policies and procedures to patients within your scope and support care coordination.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI).
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient clinic or medical office.
- BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required.
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations accepted by facility).
- Proven proficiency with blood draws/venipuncture and specimen handling.
- Experience using Epic and/or CS-Link charting systems.
Education
- HSD/GED
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma (DAPIP-accredited) or national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
Knowledge & Skills
- Vital signs, height/weight, pulse oximetry
- Venipuncture, phlebotomy, specimen labeling and handling
- Patient rooming and preparation for exams/procedures
- Immunizations/injections administration
- Exam room setup and equipment cleaning/reprocessing
- Medical record documentation in Epic/CS-Link
- Familiarity with insurance/referral processes and authorization forms
- Telephone triage basics and handling pharmacy refill requests
- Orthopedics experience preferred (casting, dressing changes, suture removal, wound care)
- Understanding of medical terminology and outpatient clinic workflows
