Roles & Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients; obtain and record vital signs, height/weight, medication lists and histories in Epic/CS-Link
- Perform venipuncture and prepare lab specimens accurately and with care
- Administer immunizations, injections, or oral medications as directed by providers
- Set up, clean, and reprocess exam and procedure rooms to maintain a safe environment
- Assist providers with procedures, casting, wound care, and suture removal when needed
- Explain policies, procedures, and patient instructions within your scope of practice
- Support patient follow-up through calls, pharmacy refill requests, and insurance/authorization coordination
- Help track and monitor department-specific data to support quality patient care
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program OR national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
- BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations)
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient or medical office setting
- Proficiency with phlebotomy/blood draws and experience with CS-Link/Epic
Education
- HSD/GED
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma (DAPIP-accredited) or national MA certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in vital signs collection, patient rooming, and medication/history documentation
- Venipuncture, specimen collection, labeling, and Quest Diagnostics submission familiarity
- Experience administering immunizations and injections
- Comfortable with orthopedic clinic tasks: casting, dressing changes, wound care, and suture removal
- Telephone triage, insurance verification, authorization processes, and pharmacy refill coordination
- Familiarity with medical terminology and outpatient clinic workflows
