Medical Assistant - Outpatient Orthopedics

Roles & Responsibilities
- Greet and room patients, take and accurately record vital signs and medication histories
- Prepare exam and procedure rooms so providers can deliver efficient care
- Perform blood draws, specimen collection, labeling, and prepare labs as directed
- Administer immunizations, injections, or oral meds within scope of practice
- Document patient encounters in the EHR (Epic / CS-Link) with clarity and timeliness
- Assist with patient education, explain clinic policies and follow-up instructions
- Support department data tracking and help maintain clean, safe equipment and supplies
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma from a DAPIP-accredited program or national certification (AAMA, AMCA, AMT, CCBMA, MMCI)
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC
- Flu vaccination required (no exemptions/declinations)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as an MA in an outpatient clinic or medical office
- Proficiency with phlebotomy/venipuncture and specimen handling
- Experience with CS-Link or Epic EHR systems
Education
- HSD/GED
- Medical Assistant Certificate/Diploma (DAPIP-accredited) or national MA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in vital signs, patient preparation, and rooming
- Phlebotomy, specimen collection and proper labeling
- EHR documentation in Epic or CS-Link
- Basic wound care, suture removal, and casting support for orthopedics
- Familiarity with outpatient clinic workflows and patient communication
- Telephone triage, insurance/referral process knowledge is a plus
