Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans to improve activities of daily living and functional independence
- Deliver skilled OT interventions across acute care, inpatient rehab and outpatient settings using evidence-based modalities and manual techniques
- Provide specialized splinting, prosthetics/orthotics support and rehabilitation for orthopedic, soft tissue and neuro patients
- Document timely, thorough patient care notes in Epic and communicate progress with the interdisciplinary team
- Train patients and caregivers in safe mobility, ADLs and adaptive strategies to promote discharge readiness
- Participate in holiday and weekend coverage as required and collaborate to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Active Alaska Occupational Therapy license (pending licenses are not accepted)
- NBCOT certification required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Minimum 1 year of occupational therapy experience (acute care preferred)
- Comfortable documenting in Epic
- Willingness to work weekends; first-time travelers accepted
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in activities of daily living (ADLs) assessment and intervention
- Experience with splinting (dynamic, serial, static, orthoplast) and upper-extremity prosthetics
- Familiarity with modalities: electrical stimulation, TENS, ultrasound, biofeedback
- Orthopedic and post-op rehabilitation (hip, knee, soft tissue injuries)
- Pediatrics exposure is a plus
- Comfortable working in an acute care/critical access hospital environment
