Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound exams across adult and pediatric patients, including abdominal, vascular, and specialty studies
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment (GE, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite) to produce accurate, diagnostic images
- Collaborate closely with ED, ICU, and OR teams to provide timely imaging for acute and intraoperative cases
- Document procedures and findings accurately in the charting/PACS system and maintain clear communication with ordering clinicians
- Prioritize patient safety and comfort while adhering to infection control and facility protocols
- Assist with portable imaging calls and adapt quickly to changing clinical needs and environments
- Contribute to a positive team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and participating in interdisciplinary care
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of ultrasound experience (required)
- Active state licensure/certification as required (pending licenses not accepted)
- ARDMS preferred, BLS/BLSS preferred
- Comfortable working in ED, ICU, and portable settings
- Experience with PACS/charting systems required (any system acceptable)
- Able to work occasional weekends and float between like units when needed
Education
- Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent (Associates degree or certificate preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient with GE PACS, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite systems
- Skilled in general ultrasound exams: abdominal aorta, appendix, biliary tract, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen
- Experience with breast, pediatric abdomen/pelvis, lung biopsy and intraoperative imaging
- Comfortable performing studies in ED, ICU and portable environments
- Strong patient communication, time management and critical thinking skills
