Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality diagnostic sonographic examinations across a variety of exams including abdominal, pediatric abdomen/pelvis, breast, gallbladder, liver and vascular studies
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment (GE, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite) and accurately document findings in PACS
- Provide timely portable imaging in emergency department and ICU settings when requested
- Assist with intraoperative imaging and ultrasound-guided procedures such as lung and liver biopsies
- Communicate results and clinical concerns clearly to physicians and the interdisciplinary care team
- Adhere to facility policies, safety protocols and infection control standards while delivering compassionate patient care
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of diagnostic medical sonography experience
- Active ARDMS certification preferred (abdomen/obstetrics or equivalent) and BLS preferred
- Current state sonography license required; pending licenses are not accepted
- Comfortable performing portables and working in ED and ICU environments
- Ability to float between like units and cover occasional weekends and on-call shifts
- Strong communication skills and ability to document clearly in the required charting system
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency with ultrasound systems: GE, Philips, Siemens, SonoSite
- Experience using PACS (GE PACS or similar) for image storage and reporting
- Exam expertise: abdominal aorta, appendix, biliary tract, breast, gallbladder, liver, pancreas, spleen, pediatric abdomen/pelvis
- Skills performing intraoperative scans and biopsy assistance
- Comfortable in high-acuity settings such as Emergency Department and ICU
- Familiarity with portable ultrasound workflows and patient positioning
