Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform accurate venipuncture and capillary draws with confidence and care
- Label, handle, and transport specimens according to protocol to protect sample integrity
- Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients to ease anxiety and ensure cooperation
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace and follow infection control procedures at all times
- Document collection details and update patient records in a timely and accurate manner
- Collaborate with nursing and lab teams to prioritize collections and resolve issues quickly
Qualifications
- Phlebotomy certification or completion of an accredited phlebotomy program
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable performing routine venipuncture and specimen handling
- Strong patient communication skills and professional bedside manner
- Ability to pass background check and meet facility onboarding requirements
- Previous clinical or hospital experience preferred but not required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Phlebotomy certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven technique in venipuncture and capillary collection
- Familiarity with specimen labeling, chain of custody, and biohazard safety
- Basic computer skills for electronic patient records and specimen tracking
- Understanding of infection control and universal precautions
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced outpatient setting
