Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs accurately and communicate changes to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and mobility, following proper body mechanics
- Document care and resident observations clearly and promptly
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary staff to deliver person-centered care
- Maintain a safe, clean environment and follow infection control practices
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent required for practice in Maryland
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility policy
- Background check and ability to pass facility onboarding checks
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team
- Ability to stand for long periods and assist with resident transfers
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- GNA certification (required)
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic nursing assistant skills including ADL support and charting
- Ability to measure and record vital signs accurately
- Understanding of infection control and standard precautions
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents and families
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
- Comfortable using electronic documentation or paper charting as directed
