Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, supporting dignity and comfort
- Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly report findings to nursing staff
- Follow individualized care plans and document care accurately and timely
- Maintain a clean, safe environment and promote infection control practices
- Communicate respectfully with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team
Qualifications
- State-certified GNA or CNA certification preferred or equivalent credential
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
- Comfortable with physical aspects of the role, including lifting and assisting residents
- Clean background check and ability to pass required facility screenings
- Prior experience in long-term care or assisted living preferred but enthusiastic new grads welcome
Education
- High school diploma or GED required; completion of GNA/CNA training program preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) support and basic restorative care
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with residents and families
- Basic documentation and charting skills
- Familiarity with infection prevention and safe patient handling
- Ability to follow care plans and work collaboratively with nursing staff
