Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients across the continuum of care using evidence-based SLP interventions
- Develop individualized treatment plans and track measurable progress toward functional goals
- Provide dysphagia assessment and management when indicated, ensuring patient safety
- Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams — nursing, physicians, PT/OT, and social work — to coordinate care
- Document thoroughly and timely in the facility EMR to support continuity of care and compliance
- Educate patients and caregivers with clear, practical strategies to continue progress at home
Qualifications
- California license or eligibility to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist
- Current CCC-SLP (ASHA) preferred or equivalent clinical certification
- Experience performing adult inpatient evaluations and dysphagia management (preferred)
- Strong clinical reasoning, documentation skills, and teamwork mindset
- Current CPR/BLS certification as required by facility
Education
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent required
- CCC-SLP (ASHA) preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in clinical assessment, prognosis, and goal-directed treatment planning
- Experience with dysphagia evaluations and therapeutic strategies
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Excellent communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting
