Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert respiratory care for critically ill adults and children in the ICU, managing ventilators and airway support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered respiratory plans
- Perform respiratory assessments, treatments and monitoring, adjusting therapies based on clinical data
- Document care thoroughly in Epic to ensure continuity and clarity across the care team
- Float between like units when needed to support staffing and maintain high-quality patient care
- Respond to emergency situations and on-call needs within the department scope
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, including ICU experience with adults and pediatrics
- Comfortable and experienced working with both pediatric and adult critical care patients
- Experience with Epic charting preferred and helpful for faster onboarding
- Willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Able to float between units within scope to meet facility needs
- Pending state license may be accepted per NRTO rules, follow facility credentialing guidance
Education
- Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or related field preferred
- RRT credential and applicable state licensure required
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong ventilator management and airway management skills
- Critical care assessment and intervention for adult and pediatric patients
- Familiarity with Epic electronic charting and clinical documentation
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-acuity settings
- Ability to adapt when floating between like units and changing patient needs
- Comfort with night-shift workflows, triage and emergent interventions
