Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat adults in an acute inpatient rehabilitation/IRF setting using evidence-based OT interventions
- Develop individualized plans of care and lead meaningful discharge planning to maximize patient independence
- Perform adaptive equipment and wheelchair evaluations and train patients and families for safe home transitions
- Document accurately and timely in the charting system (Epic preferred) and complete IRF-PAI requirements
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, PT, SLP, case management) to coordinate patient-centered care
- Provide skilled training in transfers, ADLs, splinting and functional mobility to improve outcomes
- Float to other UCSF facilities as needed while maintaining treatment quality and continuity
Qualifications
- Valid California Occupational Therapy license (required)
- MS or MA degree (MS/MA degree listed as requirement)
- AHA BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year licensed experience in inpatient rehabilitation/IRF (clinical rotations do not count)
- Demonstrated IRF-PAI experience (must have)
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required (medical/religious exemptions only)
- Experience with acute care/hospital settings across levels of acuity is preferred
- Familiarity with Epic charting preferred
Education
- MS or MA in Occupational Therapy (or related field) — MS/MA degree required
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficiency in IRF-PAI documentation and inpatient rehab workflows
- Splinting: dynamic, functional, static; prosthetic and orthotic knowledge
- Wheelchair evaluation and positioning, adaptive equipment assessment
- Experience with neurological (TBI, SCI, CVA, Parkinson’s, MS) and orthopedic diagnoses
- Modalities/Manual skills: electrical stimulation, TENS, ultrasound, edema management, wound care
- Strong discharge planning, patient/family education, care coordination skills
- Ability to work within interdisciplinary teams and adapt to floating between facilities
