Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide skilled occupational therapy interventions for adults in an inpatient rehabilitation/IRF setting
- Assess functional abilities and design individualized plans of care to promote independence
- Perform wheelchair evaluation and positioning, ADL training, and adaptive equipment recommendations
- Document accurately and timely in the charting system (Epic preferred)
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate discharge and community re-entry planning
- Deliver evidence-based modalities and manual therapy as appropriate (splinting, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, etc.)
- Educate patients and families on home exercise programs, safety, and injury prevention
Qualifications
- Current CA Occupational Therapist license (required)
- MS or MA degree in Occupational Therapy (specified as MS/MA)
- AHA BLS certification (required)
- Minimum 1 year of licensed inpatient rehabilitation experience (IRF experience required, including IRF-PAI)
- Experience with patients across orthopedic, cardiac, neurologic, and general med/surg diagnoses
- Ability to float to other UCSF facilities when needed
- COVID-19 vaccine plus booster required per facility guidelines (medical/religious exemptions only)
Education
- MS or MA in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent graduate degree)
Knowledge & Skills
- Prosthetics/orthotics (above-knee, below-knee, upper extremity) and splinting skills
- Wheelchair evaluation and positioning
- Adaptive equipment assessment and ADL training
- Cognitive and perceptual assessments for adult populations
- Modalities such as TENS, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, kinesiotaping
- Strong documentation, billing knowledge (including IRF-PAI familiarity), and plan-of-care development
- Comfort working in acute care and varying acuity levels (ICU, TCU/tele, general ward) — preferred
