Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to nursing staff
- Support safe mobility and transfers, following proper body mechanics
- Document care and communicate clearly with the care team to maintain continuity
- Help create a warm, respectful environment that promotes resident well-being
Qualifications
- Current GNA or CNA certification (state-issued) — Maryland preferred
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification or willingness to obtain
- Clear background check and ability to complete facility onboarding
- Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or similar setting is a plus
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of resident care standards and infection control practices
- Ability to take and accurately record vital signs and basic assessments
- Comfortable with electronic or paper charting and documentation
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with residents
- Dependable, punctual, and able to follow direction from licensed staff
