Roles & Responsibilities
- Evaluate adult patients with a full range of sleep disorders and create evidence-based treatment plans
- Interpret polysomnography and other sleep study data accurately and efficiently
- Follow up with patients post-study to review results and adjust therapy (CPAP, medications, behavioral plans)
- Collaborate with pulmonary and critical care colleagues and advanced practice providers to improve access to sleep medicine
- Document findings and plans thoroughly in Epic to ensure continuity of care
- Support clinic workflow alongside polysomnography techs and MAs to maintain excellent patient experience
Qualifications
- MD or DO with board certification or eligibility in Sleep Medicine, Pulmonary & Critical Care, or equivalent
- Current or eligible medical license to practice in South Carolina
- Demonstrated experience interpreting sleep studies (polysomnography) and managing OSA, narcolepsy, insomnia, and related disorders
- Comfortable using Epic EMR for documentation and order entry
- Ability to work Monday–Friday daytime clinic schedule and collaborate with on-site staff
- Willingness to complete credentialing (estimated 90–120 days) and travel to Greenville for the assignment
Education
- MD or DO
- Fellowship training in Sleep Medicine or Pulmonary & Critical Care with Sleep specialization
Knowledge & Skills
- Patient evaluation in sleep medicine and outpatient sleep clinic management
- Interpretation of polysomnography (sleep studies) and knowledge of sleep scoring
- Experience treating OSA, narcolepsy, insomnia, central sleep apnea, REM behavior disorder and circadian disorders
- Experience with telemedicine / remote reading workflows
- Familiarity with Epic EMR for clinical documentation and order management
- Strong communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration
