Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive wound management including assessment, treatment planning, and follow-up
• Perform and supervise Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) when indicated
• Perform wound debridement, incision and drainage, and manage draining wounds and fistulae
• Apply and instruct on wound dressings, topical therapies, Unna boots, and total contact casting
• Manage vascular, arterial, venous, pressure, and diabetic ulcers with evidence-based care
• Coordinate and educate patients and caregivers on prevention, home care, and self-management
• Supervise post-surgical incision care and provide negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) as needed
• Collaborate with surgeons, nursing, and rehabilitation teams to optimize healing outcomes

Qualifications

• MD or DO (physician gap coverage role)
• Active, unrestricted medical license in Ohio or ability to obtain temporary privileges
• Experience in wound care, including HBOT, debridement, NPWT, and skin graft management
• Comfortable documenting in Epic EMR
• Current BLS; ACLS or other certifications as required by facility
• Locum tenens / contract experience preferred but not required

Education

• MD or DO, completion of residency in relevant specialty

Knowledge & Skills

• Wound assessment and wound management
• Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) supervision
• Debridement techniques and incision & drainage
• Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
• Skin grafting and post-surgical incision management
• Topical therapies, pressure ulcer and diabetic ulcer management
• Patient and caregiver education
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record
