Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to laboring patients
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment and fetal monitoring
• Initiate and manage nursing interventions during labor and delivery
• Collaborate with obstetricians, anesthesiologists, and pediatric teams to coordinate care
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly in the patient record
• Educate patients and families about labor progress, delivery options, and postpartum care
• Respond quickly and effectively to changes in patient or fetal condition

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Tennessee or eligibility for compact licensure
• Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in Labor & Delivery
• Current BLS required
• NRP preferred
• Current fetal monitoring competency or willingness to obtain
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and adapt to travel assignment requirements

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of labor and delivery processes and interventions
• Skilled in fetal monitoring and interpreting fetal tracings
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation
• Excellent assessment, prioritization, and clinical decision-making skills
• Clear communication and teamwork in high-acuity situations
