Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on a surgical oncology telemetry unit
• Monitor telemetry and vital signs closely and respond swiftly to changes
• Administer medications and treatments safely, following unit protocols
• Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth patient transitions
• Document assessments and interventions accurately in the MediTech EMR
• Support unit goals by maintaining patient ratios and prioritizing critical tasks
• Participate in bedside handoffs and maintain clear communication with families and providers
• Perform chemotherapy administration only if chemotherapy certified and within scope

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Texas (must be in good standing)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg or relevant nursing experience (telemetry experience highly desirable)
• Chemotherapy certification preferred for oncology duties
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and familiarity with MediTech EMR
• Comfortable working 12-hour shifts and an every-other-weekend schedule

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BSN preferred where available.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Proficient with vital sign devices (Welch Allyn) and GE telemetry systems
• Strong clinical assessment and medication administration skills
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management
• Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical oncology environment
• Accurate and timely clinical documentation in an EMR
