Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain sterile field and instruments for a wide variety of cases
- Set up case carts and specialized equipment like microscopes and arthroscopy towers
- Assist surgeons during procedures with precision, anticipating needs and passing instruments
- Ensure patient safety by following Universal Protocol (time out) and aseptic technique
- Operate and troubleshoot OR equipment including da Vinci Xi support and laparoscopic towers
- Support emergency situations with Crash Cart readiness and airway management assistance
- Document case details accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with the care team
- Contribute to a collaborative OR culture that prioritizes outcomes and patient experience
Qualifications
- Minimum: Listing includes 1 year required; facility notes will not consider less than 3 years (preference for 5) — confirm with recruiter
- Trauma Level I experience is required; trauma experience is a hard stop
- Travel experience required
- BLS certification required
- CST preferred / preferred certified CST
- Weekend availability and ability to be on-call one weeknight per week and every 2nd or 3rd weekend (0700 - 0700, 20 minute response time)
- Pending state license not accepted; locals not accepted for this travel role
Knowledge & Skills
- Aseptic technique and sterilization/disinfection
- Universal Protocol (time out) and patient safety practices
- Case cart and crash cart preparation
- Endoscopic procedures, laparoscopic camera/tower, arthroscope equipment
- Microscope operation and specialty equipment support
- Robotic surgery support (Da Vinci Xi) and Stealth Navigation station familiarity preferred
- Airway management and emergency/trauma response
- Familiarity with Epic charting
