Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care in the OR for general, spine, neuro, robotic, urology and plastic cases
• Assist neurosurgery and spine teams — this role is approximately 85% spine and 15% brain work
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, techs and unit staff to ensure smooth cases and excellent patient outcomes
• Manage documentation and charting using Meditech to maintain accurate patient records
• Participate in call rotation and respond promptly when needed to support urgent surgical care
• Maintain sterile technique, prepare surgical equipment and ensure operating room readiness

Qualifications

• Active TX RN license required; temporary licenses will not be accepted
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• NIH certification required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care OR experience in a hospital setting (not a surgery center)
• Neurosurgery OR experience strongly required (spine-heavy experience preferred)
• Robotic OR experience and Meditech experience are preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) and current RN licensure

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven perioperative nursing skills in an acute care hospital OR
• Experience with robotic platforms such as DaVinci XI and other surgical robots
• Familiarity with navigation systems and implants like Globus and Mako
• Comfort using surgical microscopes and advanced neurosurgical instruments
• Strong documentation skills in Meditech
• Excellent communication, teamwork and patient-centered care abilities
