Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered oncology nursing care on a 21-bed oncology unit
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and IV therapies safely, including use of Baxter pumps
• Perform assessments, document care in Meditech, and escalate changes in condition promptly
• Manage neutropenic precautions and strict intake/output monitoring to protect vulnerable patients
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and families about treatments, side-effect management, and discharge planning
• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to unit guidelines for lines, dressing changes, and infection control

Qualifications

• Active RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent oncology nursing experience (must have oncology background)
• Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Experience with hematology-oncology, bone marrow transplant care is a plus
• Comfortable using Meditech and Baxter infusion pumps
• Ability to work rotating weekends and function well in a fast-paced team environment

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; BSN preferred
• Proof of RN licensure and BLS certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology clinical knowledge and safe chemo handling practices
• IV therapy and infusion pump management (Baxter pumps)
• Electronic medical record documentation (Meditech)
• Neutropenic precautions and infection prevention
• Patient education and family communication skills
• Basic critical thinking for acute changes and triage
