Roles & Responsibilities
- Verify and accurately dispense prescriptions while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance
- Counsel patients and caregivers on proper medication use, side effects, and adherence strategies
- Provide emergency coverage support and triage medication needs during your shift
- Collaborate with prescribers, nurses, and the care team to optimize medication therapy
- Maintain accurate medication records, documentation, and controlled substance logs
- Manage inventory and ensure medications are stored and labeled correctly
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute pharmacy expertise to facility goals
Qualifications
- Active pharmacist licensure in Texas or ability to obtain state licensure promptly
- Current Pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred) or equivalent pharmacy degree
- Experience working as a pharmacist in an acute or ambulatory care setting is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety during fast-paced coverage
- Licenses/certifications per facility requirements (immunization certification, BLS, or others as requested)
Education
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) preferred; BS in Pharmacy considered
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of medication safety principles and dispensing best practices
- Familiarity with electronic health records and pharmacy dispensing systems
- Excellent communication skills for patient counseling and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Ability to work independently during coverage periods and make sound clinical judgments
- Comfort handling controlled substances and maintaining strict documentation standards
