Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care on the medical-surgical unit
• Assess and monitor patients, interpret findings, and adjust care plans accordingly
• Administer medications and treatments safely and according to provider orders
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists and the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions and patient responses clearly and accurately
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments and discharge plans
• Respond to patient needs and emergencies with professionalism and calm

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or compact RN license eligible
• Minimum 1 year of recent medical-surgical nursing experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred or recommended
• Current clinical skills in med-surg nursing, IV therapy and medication administration
• Strong communication, teamwork and time management skills

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and patient assessment
• Skilled in medication administration and IV therapies
• Comfortable with electronic medical record documentation
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced unit
• Effective patient and family education skills
