Roles & Responsibilities
- Triage and rapidly assess patient acuity to prioritize care in a high-volume ED
- Provide expert emergency and trauma care, including stroke and cardiac monitoring interventions
- Administer and manage treatments and medications using unit equipment like Baxter pumps and GE monitors
- Document patient care accurately and promptly in Cerner to ensure continuity and safety
- Coach peers and provide real-time feedback to support team performance and patient outcomes
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient flow and disposition
- Maintain patient experience standards (AIDET, respectful communication, frequent updates)
Qualifications
- Active RN (Registered Nurse) licensure (state-specific or compact as required)
- Minimum 2 years’ nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
- Experience in Level 2 trauma center and comprehensive stroke center, and comfortable in a high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
- Current ACLS and BLS required prior to start; PALS, TNCC, NIHSS, CPI also required as noted
- ENPC to be completed within 90 days of hire
- Comfortable with cardiac monitoring, Baxter pumps, GE monitors, and Cerner documentation
- Team-oriented with strong coaching and communication skills; able to float within ED sections
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency nursing fundamentals: triage, trauma care, stroke protocols, cardiac monitoring
- Proficient with Cerner electronic documentation and unit-specific workflows
- Experience working in high-volume emergency departments and adapting to variable patient ratios
- Skilled at using Baxter infusion pumps and GE monitoring systems
- Strong teamwork, real-time coaching, and patient communication skills
- Patient experience savvy: AIDET, boards updates, and compassionate bedside communication
