Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients holistically—physical, emotional, psychosocial and family support needs—and act on findings
• Organize and coordinate all aspects of critical care for pre- and post-operative cardiac patients
• Evaluate patient progress against care plans and clinical pathways to ensure goals are being met
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to plan and implement total patient care
• Provide high-acuity, open-heart post-operative monitoring and interventions using sound nursing judgment
• Document care accurately and timely in Epic EMR to support continuity and safety

Qualifications

• Active Michigan RN license (must be active)
• Minimum 2+ years SICU experience — REQUIRED
• Open Heart Trained — REQUIRED
• BLS (AHA) — Required and current
• ACLS (AHA) — Required and current
• Prior travel assignment history — preferred
• Epic EMR experience — preferred
• Profile requirements at submission: current work history, ICU skills checklist (current to 1 year), and 2 supervisory reference forms (completed within last 2 years)
• Dress code: Navy Blue Scrubs (facility standard)
• Candidates must provide permanent address — facility will not consider local candidates within a 50-mile radius

• Critical care nursing and nursing process expertise
• Strong patient assessment and monitoring skills for high-acuity patients
• Post-operative and pre-operative cardiac care knowledge
• Care coordination and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Comfortable with Epic EMR documentation and workflows
• Ability to prioritize and rapidly adapt in a fast-paced SICU environment
• Effective communication with patients, families and healthcare team members
