Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform triage and initial assessment to prioritize patient care and ensure timely treatment
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage cardiac monitoring equipment to detect and escalate changes quickly
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Cerner to maintain clear clinical records
• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care following AIDET and patient experience standards
• Coach and provide real-time feedback to colleagues to promote team performance and safe practice
• Float across ED sections as needed to support high-volume operations and staffing demands
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including techs and unit clerks to coordinate patient flow
• Support stroke and trauma protocols, applying NIHSS and other unit-specific procedures

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the appropriate jurisdiction
• Minimum 2 years' nursing experience with at least 1 year in an ER setting
• Experience in Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, or high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) preferred
• Required certifications before start: ACLS and BLS
• Required certifications before start: PALS, TNCC, CPI, and NIHSS (ENPC within 90 days of hire)
• Demonstrated teamwork mentality and the ability to coach and give real-time feedback
• Comfortable floating within all sections of the ED

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage skills and emergency assessment
• Proficiency with cardiac monitoring and GE monitors
• Experience with Cerner for patient documentation
• Familiarity with Baxter infusion pumps and ED equipment
• Ability to maintain patient boards and update families throughout the visit
• Excellent communication, patient-experience (AIDET) and teamwork skills
• Competence in stroke/national stroke scale (NIHSS) protocols
