Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency nursing care—assess, triage, and treat patients across acuity levels
• Manage patient assignments and maintain appropriate patient ratios (typically 4:1 medical; higher on behavioral holds)
• Perform timely, accurate documentation in Cerner to support continuity of care and compliance
• Operate and monitor cardiac monitors and infusion pumps (GE monitors, Baxter pumps) with confidence
• Coach, mentor and provide real-time feedback to teammates to elevate unit performance
• Support patient experience initiatives (AIDET, respectful communication, ongoing updates to patients/boards)
• Follow unit policies and contribute to a safe, efficient ED workflow during high-volume periods

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state requirements apply)
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience with at least 1 year of ER experience (per posting)
• Required certifications before start date: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, CPI, NIHSS
• ENPC to be obtained within 90 days of hire
• Experience in Level 2 trauma center, comprehensive stroke center, and high-volume ED (>100,000 visits) strongly preferred
• Previous HCA experience preferred; teamwork mentality and flexibility to float within the ED required

Education

• Active RN license (required)
• Nursing degree (ADN/BSN) per state licensure requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing and triage best practices
• Patient ratio management and prioritization in a busy ED
• Documentation proficiency with Cerner
• Cardiac monitoring and infusion pump familiarity (GE monitors, Baxter pumps)
• Strong communication skills including AIDET and patient-centered updates
• Coaching, mentoring and immediate feedback skills to support peers
• Stroke assessment (NIHSS) and emergency protocols
