Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive echocardiography exams to visualize heart chambers, valves, and blood flow
• Operate ultrasound equipment with precision and ensure high-quality image acquisition
• Position and prepare patients with empathy, explaining procedures clearly to reduce anxiety
• Document findings accurately in the electronic medical record (Cerner) for the care team
• Collaborate closely with cardiologists to help diagnose structural and functional heart issues
• Maintain equipment and ensure safety and infection-control standards are followed
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by participating in department standards and training

Qualifications

• ARDMS AE (Adult Echocardiography) certification - required
• BLS (AHA) certification - required
• Minimum 2 years of echocardiography experience - required
• Comfortable using EMR systems, specifically Cerner - preferred
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application (RN specialties required; preferred for other professions)
• Michigan license verification required for nurses (provide LARA and Nursys if applicable)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong echocardiography technique and cardiac ultrasound knowledge
• Skilled in patient positioning and compassionate patient interactions
• Proficient in image acquisition and optimizing cardiac views
• Accurate data recording and documentation practices
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR workflows
• Ability to work collaboratively with cardiology teams and other clinicians
