Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess and monitor high-acuity PCU cardiac patients using continuous telemetry and advanced cardiac monitoring
• Safely manage continuous drips and titratable infusions including heparin, diltiazem, amiodarone and nitroglycerin
• Provide chest tube management and care, including troubleshooting and documentation of interventions
• Perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs and respond to arrhythmias using ACLS protocols as needed
• Administer medications and manage IV pumps while maintaining accurate Meditech documentation
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and execute individualized patient care plans
• Educate patients and families about condition, procedures and post-hospital care to support recovery
• Respond rapidly in emergencies and participate in unit efforts to maintain high standards of cardiac care

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing (state-specific licensure required)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience as stated in the job details
• PCU and cardiac telemetry experience required
• ACLS certification required
• Demonstrated ability to manage drips, titratable infusions and cardiac monitoring
• Experience with Meditech EMR and common unit equipment such as IV pumps, transport monitors and feeding pumps

Education

• Active RN license required (degree type not specified in posting)

• Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
• Drip management and titratable medication administration
• Chest tube care and related wound/drain management
• Use of Meditech electronic medical record
• IV pump operation and troubleshooting

• Trach care, BiPAP/CPAP and heated high-flow nasal cannula familiarity
• Patient transport monitor usage, suction and Foley catheter care
