Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based labor and delivery nursing care to patients and families
- Perform advanced fetal monitoring and interpret tracings to support safe births
- Deliver immediate newborn care and lead neonatal resuscitation (NRP) when needed
- Assist and circulate during vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, D&C, cerclage and related procedures
- Collaborate with OB/GYN, anesthesia, NICU and MFM teams for high-risk obstetric cases
- Document assessments, interventions and patient progress accurately in Cerner
- Operate and troubleshoot unit equipment such as Baxter pumps and Phillips fetal monitors
- Support a positive patient experience through clear communication, education and advocacy
Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of practice (or compact/multi-state as applicable)
- Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (must have)
- Experience with high-risk obstetrics (preferred and highly valued)
- Current NRP certification required
- Current BLS/ALS certification required
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
- Comfortable using Cerner EMR and unit-specific tools (fetal ink, Phillips monitors)
- Ability to work day, night and rotating schedules and adapt to unit needs
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong skills in fetal heart tracing interpretation and advanced fetal monitoring
- Proven ability in immediate newborn care and neonatal resuscitation (NRP)
- Experience circulating in delivery and assisting in operative procedures (C-section, D&C, cerclage)
- Familiarity with Cerner EMR workflows and documentation best practices
- Comfort operating Baxter infusion pumps and Phillips electronic fetal monitoring
- Collaborative communication with multidisciplinary teams including NICU and MFM
- Patient advocacy, teaching and family-centered care approaches
