Roles & Responsibilities
- Produce technically excellent CT images by setting, adjusting, and controlling CT equipment
- Position patients and body parts accurately to capture required anatomy
- Ensure proper documentation in patient records including consents, orders, and screening forms
- Follow established protocol guides and hospital policies for safe, effective imaging
- Utilize ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff
- Process and transfer images to PACS and verify image quality
- Use the Hospital Information System to obtain patient info, verify orders, complete charges, and process studies
- Maintain a clean, safe workspace and perform routine equipment checks and cleaning
Qualifications
- 2+ years of CT technologist experience (required)
- Trauma experience (required)
- Active Illinois Radiologic Technologist license (must be active)
- ARRT certification (required)
- Active American Heart Association BLS (required)
- Experience working with all patient populations
- Previous travel experience is highly preferred
- Ability to provide work history, a current skills checklist, and 2 supervisory references with dates
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required
- Active Illinois Radiologic Technologist license required
Knowledge & Skills
- CT imaging and cross-sectional anatomy
- Expert patient positioning for CT exams
- Radiation safety and ALARA principles
- PACS image processing and image transfer workflows
- Hospital Information System (HIS) use and documentation
- Patient consent, screening, and exam documentation best practices
- Comfort with trauma protocols and high-acuity imaging situations
- Familiarity with Centriq EMR is a plus
