Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, evidence-based medical-surgical nursing care to adult patients
- Perform thorough patient assessments and continuously monitor status changes
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments safely and accurately
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care
- Document patient care, assessments, and interventions clearly in the medical record
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, medications, and discharge planning
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Texas licensure or multistate compact where applicable)
- Minimum 1 year of medical-surgical nursing experience as stated in the posting
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS or specialty certifications preferred
- Strong clinical assessment skills and proven ability to manage Med-Surg patient populations
- Reliable, professional, and able to adapt quickly to a new facility and team
Education
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles and adult patient care
- Proficiency with medication administration and IV therapy
- Skilled at patient assessment, care planning, and prioritization
- Familiarity with electronic medical records and accurate clinical documentation
- Effective communication and teamwork in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Time management and the ability to handle multiple patient needs safely
