Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care for high-risk antepartum patients from 6 to 41 weeks
• Manage and monitor patients with complex conditions including preeclampsia, PTL, previa, diabetes and hypertension
• Administer and titrate critical medications such as anticoagulants, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate safely and accurately
• Maintain central lines (CVC/PICC) and manage IV therapy and phlebotomy tasks with precision
• Circulate for C-sections and assist in the operating environment when needed
• Support and perform bedside sterile procedures including assistance with sterile speculum exams and amniocentesis support
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support postpartum mothers whose infants are in the NICU
• Operate and monitor unit equipment such as PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and infusion devices while ensuring patient safety

Qualifications

• AWHONN Advanced certification (required)
• BLS and NRP required
• ACLS preferred
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; screen candidates with less than 2 years or no C-section experience
• C-section circulation experience required
• First-time travelers welcome; travel experience not required
• Willingness to float to Postpartum unit as part of assignment
• Intermediate AWHONN holders require manager approval

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of high-risk antepartum conditions and maternal-fetal physiology
• Skilled in IV therapy, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), and phlebotomy
• Proficient in administration and titration of critical medications including insulin drips, anticoagulants and magnesium sulfate
• Comfortable assisting with sterile speculum exams and bedside procedural support
• Experience circulating in C-section cases and working in the L&D environment
• Ability to care for patients experiencing fetal demise and support bereaved families with sensitivity
• Familiarity with PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and common infusion equipment
