Shift Type: Weekend-focused coverage with rotating day and night responsibilities: Friday evening/night call, Saturday day rounding, Saturday evening/night call, Sunday day rounding. Typically 1-2 weekends per month; PRN and full-time options available. Shift type: rotating (day and night/weekend coverage).
Candidate Pay Rate: $280 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide expert critical care management for an 18-bed closed ICU, rounding on 18-24 critically ill patients alongside APCs and residents
- Manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation for a broad range of patients, including ETT, tracheostomy care, BiPAP and CPAP
- Perform procedures including central line and arterial line placement, pulmonary artery catheter insertion, paracentesis, thoracentesis, and lumbar puncture
- Supervise and teach APCs, IM, FM, and EM residents as part of an academic-oriented coverage model
- Respond to night call and provide high-quality coverage while collaborating with on-site APCs/residents
- Document clinical care accurately in Epic and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Triage and manage admissions, averaging 3-4 admissions per physician per day, with focused attention on patient safety and outcomes
Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Critical Care, Pulmonary/Critical Care, or equivalent critical care specialty preferred
- MD or DO degree with valid medical licensure appropriate for practice in Ohio
- Proven experience in ICU settings with ventilator management and critical care procedures
- Comfort and experience supervising APCs and residents, with a willingness to teach
- Weekend availability required, including evening/night call
- Proficiency with Epic EMR or similar electronic documentation systems
- Current ACLS certification; other relevant certifications encouraged
Education
- MD or DO (or equivalent medical degree) required
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of critical care medicine and ICU best practices
- Mechanical ventilation management, both invasive and non-invasive modalities
- Procedural competence: central and arterial line placement, PA catheter, paracentesis, thoracentesis, lumbar puncture
- Experience in trauma level 2 environments and caring for cardiac, neuro, surgical, and medical ICU patients
- Strong teaching and supervisory skills for working with residents and APCs
- Effective communication, multidisciplinary collaboration, and clinical documentation in Epic
