Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care to adults in the Progressive Care Unit, maintaining patient safety and comfort
• Maintain the typical patient ratio (approximately 1:4-5) and prioritize care effectively
• Perform telemetry monitoring and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Start and manage IVs, including peripheral and PICC line care, and access/manage ports
• Document patient care thoroughly and accurately using the Epic electronic health record
• Respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies and participate in rapid response teams
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including PT, RT, pharmacy, social work and radiology to coordinate care
• Support unit needs by floating to equivalent or lower acuity units as required

Qualifications

• ACLS required
• BLS required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown experience
• Strong MS/Telemetry experience — candidates with 4 years MS/Tele will be considered
• Proven experience with Epic documentation
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred but not required
• Ability and willingness to float within the OSU organization and cover occasional weekends/holidays

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV therapy, IV starts, and peripheral/PICC/central line care
• Epic electronic medical record proficiency
• Management of dysrhythmias and emergency cardiac response
• Familiarity with IV insulin protocols and endocrine/metabolic patient needs
• Non-invasive airway management and basic respiratory support (nasal cannula, etc.)
• Use of unit equipment such as bladder scanners and dopplers
• Strong teamwork, communication, and documentation skills
