Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (Day). Note: Coverage also requested Mon-Fri 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM with a 30-minute meal break; orientation: 1 week
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $22 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare and package medications accurately to support safe patient care
- Fill and label prescriptions and unit-dose carts while following policy and state regulations
- Maintain inventory and restock medications to ensure continuous availability
- Assist pharmacists with dispensing duties and clinical documentation
- Follow strict security and chain-of-custody procedures appropriate for a correctional facility
- Communicate clearly with clinical staff to coordinate medication delivery and resolve discrepancies
- Perform accurate recordkeeping and support medication audits
Qualifications
- Pharmacy Technician experience (previous correctional or institutional pharmacy experience a plus)
- Active Pharmacy Technician certification or license (or eligible to obtain one as required by state rules)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work within regulated processes
- Ability to pass background checks and any facility-specific clearances required for work at Wasco State Prison
- Reliable attendance and ability to work the assigned weekday shift
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Pharmacy Technician training program or certificate preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with medication preparation, labeling, and dispensing workflows
- Comfort using electronic medication and inventory systems
- Excellent organizational skills and numeric accuracy
- Good communication skills for collaborating with pharmacists and medical staff
- Knowledge of safety, infection control, and controlled substance handling best practices
