Roles & Responsibilities

• Compound and accurately dispense medications while ensuring medication safety and regulatory compliance
• Review prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness before dispensing
• Provide patient counseling on drug interactions, side effects, dosing and storage when counseling is accepted
• Oversee pharmacy operations including inventory management, procurement and secure storage of controlled substances
• Maintain quality assurance procedures and follow proper hazardous waste and controlled substance disposal protocols
• Resolve third-party prescription rejections and manage billing/claims workflows
• Supervise and instruct interns and pharmacy personnel while maintaining legal pharmacist-to-tech/intern ratios
• Build and maintain strong relationships with local physicians and healthcare providers to improve patient care

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of California (required)
• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited college (required)
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (required)
• Experience in retail pharmacy operations, compounding and dispensing medications
• Familiarity with controlled substances handling, third-party Rx systems and loss-prevention procedures
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset
• Ability to fulfill continuing education requirements and maintain regulatory compliance
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform typical pharmacy physical tasks

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) or Pharm.D. from an ACPE-accredited program

Knowledge & Skills

• Compounding and accurate medication dispensing
• Patient counseling and medication safety best practices
• Controlled substances management and secure storage procedures
• Inventory control and procurement workflows
• Regulatory compliance with federal, state and local pharmacy laws
• Experience with third-party prescription systems and claim resolution
• Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting
• Supervising and mentoring interns/technicians, and strong customer service skills
