Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide hands-on therapeutic interventions and assist patients with mobility and functional goals
- Implement treatment plans under the direction of a licensed PT and document patient progress accurately
- Support gait training, transfers, therapeutic exercise, and use of assistive devices
- Educate patients and families on home programs, safety techniques, and fall prevention
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care
- Maintain equipment, ensure a safe treatment environment, and follow infection-control policies
- Contribute to a positive patient experience by delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
Qualifications
- Licensed or license-eligible Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) — Tennessee licensure preferred
- Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtainable prior to start
- Current immunizations and ability to pass required background and health screenings
- Previous experience in inpatient, skilled nursing, or outpatient rehab settings is a plus
Education
- Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
Knowledge & Skills
- Proficient in therapeutic exercise, gait training, transfers, and use of common modalities
- Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
- Excellent communication and patient education abilities
- Ability to work independently while following PT-directed plans of care
- Good time management, organization, and teamwork skills
