Roles & Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients to identify functional limitations and establish meaningful OT goals
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that promote independence
• Use therapeutic activities and adaptive equipment to maximize patient outcomes
• Document progress clearly and timely in the electronic health record
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, case managers and families to coordinate care
• Educate patients and caregivers on strategies for home safety and long-term function
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active Occupational Therapist license in Virginia (or compact/state equivalent)
• NBCOT certification preferred or in-process candidates considered
• Current BLS/CPR certification as required by facility
• Experience in inpatient rehabilitation, post-acute, or similar OT settings preferred
• Strong documentation skills and comfort with electronic health records
• Professional, team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills

Education

• Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor's, Master's, or OTD)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assessment and treatment planning for ADLs and IADLs
• Familiarity with adaptive equipment, splinting basics and positioning techniques
• Knowledge of mobility, transfers and safe patient handling principles
• Ability to deliver goal-directed, outcome-focused therapy
• Competent documentation and data-driven progress tracking
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and family education
